Are you going to be a Changent?

I am working as a change agent in a Sri Lankan village, and I want to give these people their own voice through ICTs. Currently they live simply off the land but their crops are not sustainable and their food will run out, with many of their preferred foods being annual only growers or unsustainable meats. I want to spread the idea of sustainable agriculture, so that the people continue to have healthy crops into the future, and can make the most out of the amount of land that they have.
This is your mission. What do we do and how to we use ICTs to help this village? Imagine that currently there is no ICTs being used. PS. You don’t have to understand much about agriculture to do this in-class task.
Braintstorming starters:
What are some technologies that communicate information?
Could we build, from an abandoned house, a small community radio station that gives out information? But what does this building involve?
Should we take in video cameras and document our trials for the wider world?
What are the reasons that this village may not use ICTs?
Do we put books into their libraries? If so, do we need to teach any literacy skills? Do we need to employ book translators?

We want to turn an old building in Bhutan into a research site similar to those seen in Participatory Content Creation for Development: Principles and Practices. We have a budget of AU$1000.
